First found in ancient Greece, stones and statues were used to help give an added look of elegance in the garden setting. Inspired by Greek gardens, these vibrant shapes and designs have been used for thousands of years to help add life outside of plants.
Marble was a popular stone that was used to help decorate and manipulate the architecture and landscapes of gardens and homes. Presenting scenes of nature and Gods, typically engraved into the stone itself. Most of the statues that we have today have lost the vibrant design and coloring. At this point we’ve come to realize that indeed we have misconstrued the past as the Greeks used a lot of vibrant colors and designs. The decorative garden can be directly attributed to the Greeks.
Most of the modern garden statues and designs can be directly attributed to these ancient designs, as most directly resemble similar designs or are also made from marble and other expensive stones. It wasn’t until recently that a lot of our garden plaques would use basic and very simple colors. Thankfully we can now find a plethora of garden statues in a variety of styles and designs. Garden plaques are now created from a wide range of designs and influences, such as polynesian, Japanese and even Thai cultures.
The new garden plaques use unique designs, shapes and colors. Using colored stones and plaques rather then the uncolored and usually more boring plaques. Garden plaques come in just about any shape or style imaginable, from hanging garden holders to stepping stones. Most of the garden plaques still follow the common style motifs of animals, with images of goddesses and nature depictions. Garden plaques are even now based on Disney cartoon animals and movie characters. The recent design of garden plaques have even been designed to be used inside. This is commonly referred to as as the cottage style design, which you can use these styles inside your home.
Decorative garden plaques can even be used in common paving stones or stepping stones. Imagine using unique, colored, stones for steps to your garden pond or up from the local lake. Don’t be restricted by simply using your stones on the walls or as visual pieces, don’t throw away those worn out garden pieces use them as steps on your garden bed. This adds another layer of design over the general and more common paving stones that are used in gardens.
Garden plaques give off the ambiance and style that you’ve always wanted in your garden. These small additions can greatly hanger the way your garden appears, helping you sculpt a new design you never thought imaginable. Look for quality garden plaques when you go shopping, less expensive garden plaques means that you generally won’t be able to enjoy them for years to come.
